Grand County Busted Booking Records
The Grand County Sheriff's Office runs the local jail. Its booking steps create the county's arrest paperwork. When someone is booked, the event becomes an agency record. It may also show up on the county's dated custody list. What the Sheriff releases is limited, though. Privacy, safety, investigative, and fair-trial concerns can all hold details back. Even basics like charge text, bond, or an arraignment date may be withheld. Reach the Sheriff's materials through the Grand County Sheriff's Office page.
One thing trips people up. The county's verified online product is not a full booking-record database. It is a dated jail list. A Moab City Police report, a Sheriff arrest record, a booking file, and a court case may all grow from one event, yet each sits with a different custodian. So when you need a particular document, knowing who holds it matters most.
Note: charge details at booking can be amended, reduced, or dismissed as a case moves forward.
Grand County Booking Record Fields
The county describes its public list as a roster of inmates and their offenses. That is about all it promises. No complete field specification exists for the display. So treat the items below as what an agency record might contain, not what the online list guarantees. A booking number, release date, bond figure, or photograph could sit in a retained file and still never appear in the accessible text.
| Item | What the research supports |
|---|---|
| Person and offense information | The roster metadata identifies jail inmates and offenses; Sheriff materials describe certain adult identifying and arrest information. |
| Booking and commitment details | The state retention description includes aliases, sheriff number, booking number, offense, arresting officer, commitment date, sentence term, and discharge date. |
| Bond and arraignment | Sheriff materials say these may be available arrest information. They are booking or scheduling facts, not a disposition. |
| Booking image | No online photo field is promised. The Sheriff must apply Utah's classification rules to a specific request. |
| Court outcome | A later public case can be found through Utah Courts Xchange, not from a verified roster field. |
A few terms keep coming up. Booking is the intake step that follows an arrest. An arraignment is an early court stage where the case moves forward. A disposition is the court's eventual action, whether a dismissal, a plea, or a judgment. Each word marks a different point in time. That is why an entry from one source should never be used to fill a gap in another.
Grand County Busted Photo Requests
Want a specific Sheriff-held booking or arrest record? Start with the current GRAMA request form and fee schedule. You can submit in person or electronically. The county's records contact is Ronnie McCurdy at rmccurdy@grandcountyutah.gov. Be specific: give a name, a date or date range, an incident or booking number if you have one, and the exact record you want. Bring a valid state-issued ID. Expect that protected portions of a file may be withheld, even when parts are released.
- Identify the record holder first. A Sheriff booking file belongs with the Sheriff, while a City police report may belong with Moab Police.
- Describe the event as specifically as possible and include contact information and identification required on the form.
- For an image, request any releasable booking image and ask the custodian to identify its classification and any required affirmation.
- Set an advance-cost ceiling, read any response or denial, and use the stated appeal process if it applies.
The published fee schedule runs as follows. Records work costs $25 per hour after the first 15 minutes. Report pages are $1 each. Printed photos run $2 apiece with a $10 minimum, digital photos $20 plus media, and a CD or thumb drive $25. Paying a fee does not guarantee release, since the money covers work, not the outcome. The form sets a general response target of as soon as reasonably possible, and no later than 10 working days. A qualifying expedited request carries a five-working-day rule.
Note: A fee schedule never overrides a record classification decision, so confirm current procedure and possible cost with the Sheriff before submitting.
Grand County Busted Photo Law
Utah treats booking photos differently from most public records. Under Utah Code §63G-2-305(80), an image taken during jail booking is protected unless a listed exception applies. Those exceptions cover certain conviction, law-enforcement, judicial, and limited victim-view circumstances. A name appearing on the jail list changes nothing here. The list itself makes no claim of publishing booking images.
A second statute adds its own limit. Utah Code §17-72-802 requires anyone seeking a booking photo copy to sign an affirmation. The signed pledge says the photo will not go into a publish-for-pay publication or website. The Sheriff cannot hand over a protected image, or one headed for that kind of use. The right route is an agency classification decision on a specified record, not a photo gallery or a name search.
Finding Grand County Busted Records
Custody status decides where to look. Someone likely at Grand County Jail now fits the dated current-custody list. A person already released may need a direct Sheriff request or a court lookup. State custody after sentencing falls to the Utah Department of Corrections. Federal or immigration custody runs through separate locators. These paths do not swap. A name missing from one proves nothing about release, about a case, or about anything else.
- Open the current Grand County Jail list and note the snapshot date if current county custody is the question.
- Call the jail's 24/7 line, 435-259-8115, when timely confirmation is needed.
- Use a specific Sheriff GRAMA request for a county record that is not visible on the snapshot or concerns a released person.
- Check a public court case for the later legal result, rather than relying on a booking charge.
- Use UDC, BOP, or ICE only when the known custody status fits that separate system.
Grand County offers no official current-custody app, booking-photo app, or per-person Sheriff social feed. What does exist? GrandCountyAlerts.org, the county's Sheriff alert subscriptions, and VINELink all handle alerts or status notifications. Treat them as notification tools only. They are not verified recent-booking feeds, and they are no substitute for photo or court-outcome sources.
Grand County Busted Source Map
Official sources come first because each covers one narrow, known stage. The two local newspapers can help you find event reporting. The verified JailExchange directory points back to the official jail list. Unofficial sources carry caveats, though. They can lag, skip cases, or preserve stale details. None of them settles current custody. None replaces a court result.
| Channel | Custody or record scope | Photo position and access |
|---|---|---|
| Grand County Jail Inmate List | Current county custody snapshot only | No text photo policy or searchable fields verified; review the dated image pages manually. |
| Sheriff GRAMA route | Specified Sheriff-held record, including released-person questions | Classification-dependent; request releasable portions. |
| UDC Offender Search | People under current UDC supervision | State photo/record route, not a county-booking substitute. |
| Xchange | Public justice and district court case information | No jail-photo function; use it for the later case history and outcome. |
| Local reporting and JailExchange | Event reporting or secondary directory context | Unofficial and not a Grand County custody record or verified photo source. |
The commercial-mugshot sweep came up empty here. No verified Grand County section exists at BustedNewspaper, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, or Mugshots.zone. A generic Utah page does not count as county coverage. The documented Grand County JailExchange page is secondary at best. It can never override the official jail list or Utah's booking-photo law.
Grand County Busted Jail Roster
Grand County keeps custody information in a visual list rather than a searchable database. The Grand County Jail Inmate List shows numbered image pages, an "Updated" label, and little else. You open it, read the date shown, and flip through each page by hand. There is no way to filter by name, booking number, charge, booking date, or facility.
That plain design tells you what the list is worth. The county posts no refresh schedule and no real-time promise. It states no window for how long someone stays visible after release. Entries name inmates and their offenses. What you won't find are ages, bonds, court dates, arresting agencies, photos, or admission and release dates. Check the county's official roster page directly for the current version before relying on anything else.
The bottom line is simple. This is a dated list you read manually, not a name-search tool, photo archive, or release database.
Note: A name missing from the list reflects the snapshot's limits, not proof of a release or of an absent case.
Grand County Recent Booking Feeds
Grand County publishes no official feed for same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, weekly, monthly, release, or historical bookings. The dated Jail Inmate List isn't one either. It has no set posting cadence, no archive, no text fields, and no photo practice. Silence there says nothing about whether an arrest happened.
Need current custody confirmed fast? Call the jail line. For a specific file, make a Sheriff request. A Moab incident that never reaches county custody may sit with City police instead, and a filed case can later surface in Xchange. Event-driven coverage like Mugshots in the News adds context, but it's no certified booking feed.
Important: Grand County has no verified official recent-arrest window. A dated jail list, a news report, and a court record are separate sources, each with its own time limits.
Grand County Busted Bail Routes
Bail in Grand County runs through the courts, not the jail. The county's Bail Procedures page says so plainly. The jail takes no credit-card bail or bond. Justice Court and Seventh District Court do. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bonds go through the North Door at the 100 North Street entrance. The county gives no estimate on how fast release happens. For the payment route, use its own bail page rather than any secondhand copy of it.
The procedure tells you how to pay. Whether a person is still in custody is a question for the jail, and legal responsibility belongs to the court.
Grand County UDC Offender Records
People under state supervision fall under a different system. The Utah Department of Corrections Offender Search covers them. That means anyone in UDC custody or on probation or parole. It skips people held in Grand County Jail awaiting trial or sentencing. To search, enter at least one letter of a first and last name. A UDC ID works too, if you have one. UDC's public-information route lists prison photos among its categories, subject to department review.
This is a state record path. It is not a route to a county booking photograph. No fixed state photo fee or turnaround exists on paper. Questions about state-held records go through UDC's public-information and GRAMA process.
Grand County Court Record Outcomes
Once someone is booked, court records are the next stop. Grand County Justice Court takes the smaller matters. That means Class B and C misdemeanors, infractions, traffic cases, ordinance violations, and small claims. Felonies, Class A misdemeanors, and general-jurisdiction cases go to District Court. Utah Courts Xchange shows public parties, attorneys, filings, hearings, judgments, and finished outcomes as clerks enter them into CORIS.
Search by legal name first. Then narrow by court, case, or date. Read the full case history rather than trusting a case title. Xchange is no instant mirror of a booking, and it hides juvenile, sealed, and expunged cases. A blank result proves nothing. Clerks handle official-record questions. The official Xchange record-search page identifies the court system rather than any single booking record.
The court path carries a booking forward into public case events and outcomes, whenever the case and its records stay public.
Grand County Busted Custody States
Any location result means something only inside the system that produced it. The comparison below keeps current county custody apart from later or specialized systems. A list entry, a release, and a court decision are three different facts, not one.
| Status being checked | Best official starting point | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Current Grand County jail custody | Dated Jail Inmate List and 24/7 jail line | Release history, court disposition, or a guaranteed photograph. |
| Released or older Sheriff record | Specific Sheriff GRAMA request | Automatic public release of every record or image. |
| Sentenced or state-supervised person | UDC Offender Search | Current Grand County booking or full court history. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator | Grand County jail custody or a county booking image. |
| Later legal outcome | Xchange and the appropriate court | Real-time jail location or a public result in sealed matters. |
Grand County Busted Record Limits
Expungement in Utah is a formal court process. It is not just a line on a booking roster. The Utah Courts expungement information lays out two routes, automatic and petition-based. Each has its own eligibility rules. Courts started flagging qualifying automatic cases in 2026. Even so, a Grand County booking record cannot tell you whether a case qualifies or when it might clear. Sealed, expunged, and juvenile files carry access restrictions. Those limits apply inside Xchange too.
Older arrest material follows a different path. The State Archives schedule keeps county arrest records for 10 years after a person's last release. Then it destroys them. Mug-shot series may be held permanently, with a transfer possible after 75 years. None of that guarantees you can view a record or get a photo from a specific Grand County case. Ask the Sheriff first. The state-prison historical collection is separate, run by state corrections rather than the county jail.
Grand County Busted City Routes
Two incorporated cities sit inside Grand County. That is the full count. In Moab, the city police write their own reports, while any booking that follows lands with Grand County Jail, which holds the county-custody record. Castle Valley is different. It has no verified municipal police department, so the Sheriff's Office handles law enforcement there and serves as the booking contact. Neither city publishes a verified arrest log, booking feed, custody roster, or photo gallery.
- Moab Busted Mugshots separates the MCPD report route from the Sheriff and jail record route.
- Castle Valley Busted Mugshots distinguishes Town Clerk administrative records from Sheriff-held law-enforcement material.
Worried about a warrant? Grand County posts no public warrant portal. There is no most-wanted list either. The safe route runs through the court, as described under Sheriff's Most Wanted. One caution applies here. A county-custody search will not show warrant status, so never read anything into those results.
